A Fabulous February is bringing phenomenal entertainment to the Historic Granbury Square!
The New Granbury Live presents a month with every weekend (and one weekday) jam-packed with shows bringing nationally acclaimed pop and country music artists and outstanding regional talent to the stage billed as “The Most Intimate Venue in Texas”.
Starting the month off right is JOHNNY RODRIGUEZ in Concert on February 3rd. After 40 years in the business, this native Texan has a whole boatload of hits to bring to the shores of Lake Granbury. And bring them he does, in a concert that features the likes of “That’s the Way Love Goes”, “Pass Me By”, “Just Get Up and Close the Door” and “Down on the Rio Grande”. Rodriguez, with his distinctive style, puts on a show sure to satisfy both pop and country fans with songs as timeless and unique as the man who wrote most of them- Rodriguez himself.
On Wednesday, February 14th, the world celebrates romantic love on St. Valentine’s day with a DINNER THEATRE. In Granbury, the celebration is focused on the pairing of Celebration Hall and The New Granbury Live as the sister venues offer up a wonderful evening of fine food, fine wine, lilting piano dance music, and a funny and touching romantic comedy called “Love Letters” onstage. From the food and wine provided by Farina’s of Granbury to the humor and poignant moments offered up by “Love Letters” stars, Don Shook and Laurie Granfund, this is an evening of top notch entertainment sure to put you in the mood for love!
The roar of “The Lion of Texas” comes to the New Granbury Live stage on February 16th, as general manager Sam Houston brings to the stage his wonderful one -man show based on the life of the great Texan who name he bears, Sam Houston. In a performance reminiscent of Hal Holbrook’s great “Mark Twain” shows, Sam brings to life the words and deeds of Texas’ greatest statesman in a way that brings to life both the man himself and the turbulent times in which he lived.
One of the brightest young stars in Texas country music scene is Holly Tucker, sixth place winner on NBC’s “The Voice”. Holly appears at the New Granbury Live on February 17th in concert with the fantastic local talents of the Granbury Follies. Together they serve up a feast of country classics both old and new, sure to satisfy even the most ardent country music fans.
Another long-time country music act, The Bellamy Brothers, bring a rousing finale to this Fabulous February on February 24th at The New Granbury Live. Bringing their music to a second generation of fans is a big part of the continued thrill being on the road according to Howard and David. The duo, who 40 years ago were one of the acts that made country “duos” cool, pack their shows full of performances featuring such hits as “If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body”, “Lovers Live Longer” and “Crazy from the Heart”. If you love country music this show is sure to get you in the mood for love!

The Granbury Theatre Company explores the lighter side of love and romance and just good ol’ small town shenanigans with a gentle romantic comedy set in the snowy north east and a bawdy romantic musical comedy set in the hills of our home state of Texas!
“Almost Maine”, a humorous look at the loves and other adventures experienced by residents of a small town features characters we all know, and experiences that provoke the gentle tug on the heartstrings in their familiarity. This show began in January and runs thru February 11th.
Another kind of familiarity, along with the unique variations of Politics to be found in the great state of Texas, are the subject of the boisterous, funny and touching Broadway musical- “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”. This award-winning musical debuted in 1979 and had as its inspiration a real-life article in Playboy Magazine about a real piece of genuine Texana- the infamous “Chicken Ranch” – a “house of ill-repute in the country between Austin and College Station during the early to middle decades of the 20th Century. Most people are familiar with the film version made in the mid-1980’s, and so the characters and most of the music will be familiar. But there were changes made for the movie version, so playgoers will find those interesting, and the storyline with its satirical treatment of Texas’ politics and small town characters will strike chords of both rueful humor and outright laughter. A good time wilill definitely be had by all! This fantastic show opens on February 23rd.
